What drew me to Software Development:
- the necessity of being a life-long learner,
- the ability to understand how the technology embedded in my daily life actually works,
- the feeling of working hard, struggling to solve a problem, and finally reaching a tangible solution,
- and the privilege of working with a team to create solutions that help improve lives.
With many of the full stack applications I have worked on, I am able to work directly with the customer; and I enjoy being able to use my soft skills to help my team create the best product for our customers.
Currently, I am interested in expanding my knowledge and skills for:
- architecture & design,
- security,
- Golang,
- and intuitive UX design.
I have a passion for finding the best technical solution and following best practices in order to "do it right" rather than "get it done."
Background:
I am a former Middle School Math and English teacher turned Software Engineer.
Originally from Michigan, I lived in Minneapolis for about 5 years, and am now settled in Seattle.
After a few years of teaching, I decided that I love the act of teaching, but I don't like the industry or career path.
So I choose to make a career change, and landed on Software Development.
